CIS Centering & Insulation by Fire Safe Inc

Designed for maximum protection, conformity, and peace of mind, the centering and insulation system is a process for centering and insulating a new metal chimney liner.

How does it work?

The C.I.S. process removes the inherent vice often experienced when installing and insulating metal chimney liners.

By employing spacers around the metal chimney liner and inducing mechanical vibration to the chimney liner, the required 1″ minimum thickness of poured insulation is achieved. The C.I.S. process is compatible with fireplace and appliance flues.

Did you know?

The C.I.S. procedure improves the safety of the chimney liner installation and ensures that the installation is in full compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications, I.R.C. 2006 building codes, and Underwriter’s Laboratory UL 1777 Standards For Chimney Liners.

Below you will see how the C.I.S. system works and how it greatly improves the overall safety of a chimney:

Why does centering and insulating matter?

  1. Dramatically improves the safety of the chimney liner.
  2. Provides full compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
  3. Provides full compliance with International Residential Code 2006.
  4. Provides full compliance with Underwriter’s Laboratory UL 1777 Standard For Chimney Liners.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why does my liner matter?

If you notice in Image 1, the metal chimney liner touches the inside surfaces of the chimney as the liner is being lowered into the chimney from the top. Wherever the metal chimney is in contact with the inside face of the chimney it is physically impossible to achieve the mandatory 1” minimum thickness of poured insulation.

Do I have to use a Firesafe Industries approved contractor?

Yes. Due to the specific customization process, all chimney products are only available to contractors.
